My name is Jasmina Tofant Reljić. I am a psychologist and Gestalt psychotherapist.
People and their feelings, considerations and behavior have always been in the very focus of my interest and that is why I decided to study Psychology at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. However, my wish to learn about the others imposed the need to learn much about myself, thus initiating my long-standing developmental-educational-self-cognizing pathway.
Having completed my study in Psychology, I was employed at a governmental company. People used to tell me it was “a job up to retirement” but I could not accept such a scenario. I was eager to learn ever more and acquire ever new experiences, so I went to the Netherlands to attend the MSc Public Health – Work and Health study. Besides its educational role, it was a life transforming experience for me, which has actually directed my career towards the area of HR management.
Then I spent fifteen intensive years in human resources; however, in the last few years, along with these daily activities, I have dedicated all my free hours to Gestalt education and informal work with clients at the Zagreb IGW Center.
The year 2020 was a sort of catalyst for me, when my dreaming of moving from a corporation to private practice became real in the form of ProSelf (link on proself segment).
In ProSelf, I am trying to tailor my work to my own scale and standards, meaning that I work what I really like, and that is working with people in various ways – through psychotherapy and counseling, individually and in groups. In my work, I use my knowledge in Gestalt therapy, as well as other psychological concepts and knowledge I acquired during my study, additional training (NLP, Trainer Training), and work in human resources.
I work with my clients daily, they come to me in various life situations, burdened with different problems and challenges. We frequently encounter conditions such as anxiety and depression, personal loss and mourning, life crises and traumas, building and maintaining quality relationships with the others, as well as relationship with oneself. In the society in which business success and career is becoming an imperative rather than personal choice, stress at work, along with various career challenges, changing jobs, communication with colleagues and superiors, setting goals to oneself and the others, etc., is a very frequent issue. Interestingly, the topic of my MS thesis was the burnout phenomenon, currently a common issue in counseling and therapy of my clients.
Besides work with individuals, I also offer the services of counseling in human resource management to companies.
In private, I am a wife, daughter, friend, and proud owner of a minor ZOO in which two rabbits, Otto and Filip, and a dog Rozi live together in harmony. I like coffee or beer socializing, concerts, good food, films and books. I am very fond of traveling, discovering new cultures and lifestyles. It was just on traveling that I learned something new about myself in some unusual situations when it would be least expected.
In my opinion, psychotherapy and traveling have a lot in common; more about it in the Psychotherapy section.
